Wonderful Weather in All Seasons

Daredevils and adrenaline junkies travel to Colorado for its superb slopes and outdoor adventures, but it’s not all blizzards and scorching heat. The climate in Colorado is mild and pleasant, with 300 days of sunshine throughout the year, among the highest in the U.S., and 300 inches of snow in the winter — it’s the best of both worlds.

Winter

Winter on our dude ranch may look intense, with its mountains and vast fields blanketed in thick white snow. However, winters in Colorado are much milder than those on the East Coast or in the Midwest: Denver’s average high in January is 45 degrees Fahrenheit — sometimes reaching as high as 60 degrees — while New York and Michigan don’t even reach 40 degrees. There is plenty of snow, of course (300 inches, to be exact!), and it often comes in quick bursts followed by blue skies and sunshine – but none of the biting, freezing cold that forces you to stay inside.

Spring

In Colorado, wintertime weather extends a bit into spring — you may see snow well into April. But these snowstorms are often mild, providing another dusting of snow for the slopes to extend the ski season. It’s best to be quick, though: when it snows, the springtime sun often melts it the next day.

Summer

Colorado has a little bit of that “dry heat” — there’s little humidity, so the days are sunny and pleasant with just the right amount of heat. Temperatures in June, July and August average 85 degrees and under, meaning that it’s never too hot and never too cold — summers in Colorado are just right.

Fall

An autumn in Colorado brings crisp, clear weather, highlighted by brilliant yellow aspens dotting the mountainsides. Temperatures range between 60 and 70 degrees on average, making for a comfortably cool fall.

The spa was the most gorgeous spa I've ever been to, and McKinsey couldn't have been a better greeter or hostess. Kristen made my day by letting me borrow a yoga mat for my stay!
