Experiences at C Lazy U for the Under 6 Crowd

March 18, 2021

Vacationing with young children can be a challenge — but for many families, a luxury getaway at Colorado’s C Lazy U dude ranch is a cherished annual tradition.

That’s because our all-inclusive ranch was specifically designed with young children in mind. While adults relax and enjoy gourmet meals, luxury accommodations, and adventurous ranch activities (or a little pampering at our award-winning spa), lil’ cowpokes are kept busy from sunup to sundown with fun-filled activities.

Ranch Activities for the 3 to 5 Set

At C Lazy U, our Kids and Teens Program is tailored to youth of all ages, including young children getting their first taste of ranch life. While older children and teens enjoy activities such as archery, ropes courses, and horseback riding, guests aged 3 to 5 join the “Cowpokes.” This all-day program, which is included in your C Lazy U family vacation, offers fun activities like pool time, arts and crafts, pony and donkey cart rides, ranger rides, movies, and scavenger hunts.

Guests can take their children out of the program at any point to share ranch activities together as a family. Parents can also enjoy adult-time, including trail riding and Orvis-endorsed fly fishing, knowing their little ones are safe and happy as they explore life on our beautiful ranch.

Enjoy Delicious Meals and Luxurious Family Cabins

At the end of a long day of fun and discovery, your family will enjoy a well-earned gourmet meal prepared by our in-house chef. In the summertime, breakfast is enjoyed together as a family, and adults eat lunch and dinner separately. In the spring and fall, all meals are shared as a family. After dinner, our guests love to gather together around a cozy fire as a family to share stories about the day’s adventures!

In addition to spacious rooms, we offer one to three bedroom cabins with children’s rooms featuring twin beds or bunk beds. Your all-inclusive family vacation includes daily housekeeping service, plush robes, Bath products by L’OCCITANE, and coffee, tea and cocoa in your room.

Safety

Safety has our top priority at C Lazy U Ranch since the children’s program was first established in 1949. Our professionally trained counselors provide superior care so that parents can relax and recharge knowing their little ones are having an unforgettable ranch experience, while building confidence and independence.

Year-round staff are CPR and First Aid certified, and all counselors undergo a comprehensive pre-employment screening, as well as regular training that includes a Basic Water Safety course from the American Red Cross.

Explore Colorado History

There is no better way to explore the unique history of the American West than by experiencing life on an authentic dude ranch. Established in 1919, C Lazy U sprawls over 8,500 pristine acres, with panoramic views of the majestic Rocky Mountains and Continental Divide.

Not only is C Lazy U the West’s premier guest ranch, but it is also a working ranch that produces about 300 tons of hay each year. As you explore our grounds with the kiddos, say “hay” to our 200 horses and 30 cows, and meet Petey, Tilly, and Wilbur, our trio of miniature donkeys. Be sure to keep on the lookout for local wildlife like moose, elk and antelope!

Your stay at C Lazy U ranch is sure to bring your family together and create memories to last a lifetime. Reach out to our team to book your all-inclusive family vacation today.

From the Horse's Mouth

We arrived late at night and received the warmest welcome of any vacation experience we have ever had. We were a little lost, it was dark but someone walked up to our car in the freezing cold (I think it was Taylor, the night manager) and said "Hello, we have been waiting for your arrival. Welcome Borsari family. You must be hungry, we have your plates waiting for you upstairs. Come on up to the lodge when you are ready and we will have your dinner waiting. Don't worry about checking in, we can take care of all that tomorrow. Come and get warmed up." My husband and I actually wanted to cry. LOL! we were all starving and he read our minds. The welcome was the warmest we have ever received, anywhere.
