May Horseback Riding: What to Expect

  • No horseback riding on check-in and check-out days.
  • In May, trail conditions determine whether trotting and/or loping is allowed. Wranglers will make the call for the safety of horses and guests.
  • This event does not include cattle working. If you are interested in our Cattle Sorting Clinic, consider booking one of our week-long summer stays occurring mid-June to mid-August.

The retreat you’ve loved has a new name and the same Goodnight Horsemanship heart. Riding & Resilience is a five-day, four-night retreat at C Lazy U Ranch. It combines daily riding instruction with workshops on confidence, resilience, and leadership at every stage of life, in an atmosphere of luxury, camaraderie, and natural beauty.

Julie Goodnight opens the retreat with her welcome keynote and spends the first two days teaching alongside Tanya “T” Cody. T has been Julie’s colleague for more than 25 years, and Julie hand-picked her to lead Goodnight Horsemanship’s in-person programs. T then leads the horsemanship clinics, workshops, and rider development sessions for the rest of your stay, supported by the Goodnight Horsemanship team of clinicians.

Each day unfolds with thoughtful intention, combining empowerment workshops, multiple riding opportunities, and trail time that connects you with nature and your horse. You’ll rotate through sessions with T and her clinicians for a dynamic learning experience, with meaningful downtime and moments for reflection built in.

Topics may include riding with greater balance and harmony, building confidence in the saddle, handling pressure with grace, and using mindful horsemanship as a path to emotional resilience and clarity.
