Winter Horseback Riding: What to Expect

  • No horseback riding on check-in and check-out days.
  • Winter rides are walk-only for the safety of both horses and guests. If you want to trot or lope, we recommend visiting May–October, when trail riding is more active.
  • Most trails are closed in winter, but we maintain two trail areas for rides ranging 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. If you want to explore more of the ranch’s 8500+ acres in the winter you may wish to consider a snowmobile tour.

Presidents’ Day falls on February 15 in 2027, making this the perfect time to plan a long winter getaway. You can arrive as early as February 10, and stay as late as February 21, for a solid week of Colorado’s legendary winter fun. Come to the Ranch and play in the snow, ride a horse, go snowtubing, strap on skis or snowshoes for cross-country treks or hit the pond for some ice hockey. Eat lots of gourmet food and sleep like a baby in our luxurious cabins. If that’s not enough, snowmobiling and visits to our award-winning spa are also available at an additional charge.

  • DATES: February 10 – 21, 2027
  • RATES (per person per night):
    • Adult Double Occupancy: from $623*
    • Adult Single Occupancy: from $736*
    • Children age 3-17: from $415*
  • MINIMUM STAY: 3 nights
  • No horseback riding on Sundays

So bring the family for a fun weekend or week at the ranch. But book soon! Our cabins fill up quickly during winter holidays!

From the Horse's Mouth

Was there for a Julie Goodnight clinic so always wonderful. But Ami knows her stuff! Love that she puts the horses first. All of the wranglers are great.
